COMPUTATIONAL DESIGN – BIO-RE / GENERATIVE DESIGN
Prototypical Avant-garde architectonic structures.
PARAMETRIC ANALYSIS | RHINOCEROS + GRASSHOPPER
Objectives:
The student will develop computational design skills to afford integral design solutions through Grasshopper visual scripting; this will lead the design layout into qualitative research through contemporary methodologies in the building and fabrication process: Laser cut, cnc milling and 3D printing.
FRAMEWORK.
INTERACTIVE OBJECTS_visual [OOP] programming.
- Parametric geometry generation: Creating parametric geometry by points and curves generation with specific relationship constraints.
- Pattern MACRO/micro control: Creating special surface conditions, providing density, reactivity and efficiency; developing a phenomenological organic progressive interactivity and functionality to the user.
- Digital Fabrication: Design computational protocols to describe structure morphology as a set of linear developable elements. Those singular elements can then be unrolled and cut out of flat sheets of material.
COMPOSE / DECOMPOSE / RE | COMPOSE
Generative process:
1. Constraints definition.
2. Pattern generation.
3. Geometry parametric optimization.
- Geometric transformations from one state to other.
- Members generated within a structural network.
- Pattern reactivity programming into double curvature surfaces.
4. Fabrication Layout.
5. Fabrication and physical modeling.

A CAD software knowledge.
Rhinoceros 4.0 Installed.
Rhino Patch SR9.
Grasshopper 8.0051 Installed. (Latest)
Paper, pen, cutter.
